GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Pomme de Terre River Coordinator performs a variety of administrative and technical work to fulfill the goals of the Pomme de Terre River Association Joint Powers Board. This position will promote and carry out activities related to established work plans and implementation plans and is under the general supervision of the Stevens Soil and Water Conservation District Administrator.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• A two or four year degree in one or more of the natural sciences including biology, chemistry, or related field or at least two years related job experience. Farm background and/or knowledge or experience with agricultural and environmental issues desirable.
• Experience with Geographic Information Systems ArcView and ArcMap and Microsoft Office.
• Requires understanding of regional land use and its effect on water quality.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal. Must be comfortable speaking and presenting in public and working with individuals of varied ages and social backgrounds.
• Be able and willing to work independently, and at times under demanding conditions in a variety of weather conditions and on all types of terrain.
• Ability to handle multiple projects.
• Accounting skills, budgeting experience.
• Knowledge of design, survey and construction of conservation practices extremely helpful but not required.
• Knowledge of governmental agencies (NRCS, MPCA, FSA, DNR, County Commissioners, SWCDs, BWSR etc.)
• A valid Minnesota Drivers License.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Promote and implement Watershed Project Programs (cost-share, incentives and easements) providing technical assistance.
• Works in conjunction with the Pomme De Terre River Association Joint Powers Board and Technical Advisory Committee to carry out policies, programs and other activities as assigned by these entities.
• Work cooperatively with state, federal and local agencies, boards and organizations in promoting conservation programs and accomplishing the goals and objectives of established plans.
• Update and track budget expenditures and in-kind reports.
• Quarterly progress reporting.
• eLink reporting for CWP/319 projects (State of Minnesota reporting system).
• Communicate water quality findings and project progress to the public through written reports, news releases, community meetings and field days.
• Perform water sampling during the summer months, evaluate collected data, and analyze data when needed.
• Promote and distribute education grants. Participate in developing and conducting field demonstrations, tours and outdoor classrooms for schools and local groups.
• Assist the SWCD with other duties as assigned.
