Position Description:

Stevens FORWARD! is a county-based community organization sponsored by the Stevens County Board of Commissions. Our goal is to create countywide partnerships and collaboration to make improvements for our county in order to create a successful future possible for our county. A group of community members, called “stewards,” worked to develop destiny statements for our county that identify goals for us to develop and maintain an innovative economy, social inclusion, a livable community, and collaboration within the county.

Primary Duties
The Research and Coordinator Assistant performs a variety of tasks to support the Stevens Forward Coordinator and help develop momentum on Stevens Forward destiny drivers through direct involvement and coordination as well as garnering interest and activity from other members of the community.

1. Serve as the primary research assistant on destiny drivers as directed to develop initial background research and help develop strategies to accomplish drivers and following through on these drivers.

2. Foster a collaborative relationship with the University of Minnesota, Morris (UMM). Stevens Forward is working to offer educational opportunities to students at UMM by developing relationships and opportunities in collaboration with a variety of on-campus offices including the Center for Small Towns and the Office of Community Engagement. Supervise and assist student researchers and workers as needed.

3. Coordinate and facilitate meetings with individuals from the community and outside resources to further Stevens Forward’s initiatives. Encourage and maintain communication across organizations and individuals for further collaboration.

4. Maintain communication with Stevens Forward members including attendance at and participation in regular monthly meetings. Assist in developing meeting agendas, facilitating meetings, taking minutes, and sharing meeting notes.

5. Anticipate needs and develop and carryout strategies to meet those needs with relation to Stevens Forward drivers. Perform follow-up activities to ensure that progress is being made.

Qualifications/Additional Comments:

*Able and willing to multi-task and prioritize activities
*Able to work independently and report back on activities and findings as well as able to work in a team setting, coordinating and facilitating meetings.
*Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office, Internet, and e-mail experience and proficiency.
*Strong written and verbal communication skills, organized, creative, flexible.
*Preference will be given to individuals who have experience or an interest in community engagement and outreach.
