Student Center Fish Wrangler

Position Description:
Definition: Located in the Student Center’s Louie’s Lower Level, is a 25 gallon coffee table containing several goldfish. The Student Center Fish Wrangler is responsible for maintaining the health, safety and well-being of these residents as well as assuring that their physical environment is kept clean and secure in accordance with the University of Minnesota Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Daily Feeding of goldfish
• Weekly cleaning of goldfish habitat
• Assessment of goldfish health and wellbeing
• Development of goldfish life enhancement activities
• When necessary and in consultation with the Director of Student Activities (PI on IACUC protocol 120A16502) euthanization of goldfish who become ill or are in pain
Qualifications/Additional Comments:
• Experience caring for fish
• Experience maintaining an aquarium
• Flexible Schedule
• Must display dependability and reliability
• Must maintain a GPG of 2.3 or above
• Must be a full-time student taking an average of 12 or more credits per semester
Wage/Salary:
$7.50 per hour
Hours Per Week:
5 hours per week during the academic year
