Youth Minister

Messiah Lutheran Church, Hoffman, MN

Position Description:

Purpose: To work with youth and their parents in helping them discover the joy of knowing and serving Jesus Christ. To provide direction and leadership in the development of a dynamic youth program for youth at Messiah and in this area. This position reports to the pastor.

Responsibilities:

Coordinate, implement, empower and lead programs for youth including mission outreach events, retreats, Bible Studies, fun events, and major trips like the National Youth Gathering.
Attend worship services at Messiah regularly, and make connections with youth and their families.
Create a fun, Spirit filled ministry

Coordinate a process and team of people that will grow and develop a prevailing youth ministry
Develop and implement an overall emphasis on youth

Expectations:
Prior family ministry or church ministry experience

Qualifications/Additional Comments:

Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree
A deep and growing faith in Jesus Christ

A strong biblical foundation and knowledge

A love for youth—a passion to see all young people become committed followers of Jesus Christ.
A call to ministry with youth: including teaching, proclaiming the gospel,
nurturing spiritual growth.
An ability to multi-task and possess strong organization skills

An understanding and commitment to relational ministry

A commitment to the mission, vision and values of Messiah Lutheran Church

An ability to motivate, use creativity, and bring new ideas
An ability to develop and communicate a short term and long term vision

An ability to motivate, equip, coach and train youth leaders, and develop
appropriate programs utilizing volunteers and resources
A passion for outreach/evangelism

An ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information

An ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Strong teaching/organizational skills a plus

Possible funding help/support for seminary education.
