ARTICLE I: THE MOTTO OF THIS ORGANIZATION SHALL BE: FRIENDSHIP AND UNDERSTANING AMONG ALL PEOPLE

 
 
CONSTITUTION
ARTICLE II: NAME AND PURPOSE
§ 1: The association shall be called the International Students Association of the University of Minnesota Morris. (MO-MISA)
§ 2: The purposes of this organization shall be:
a. To promote friendship and create a better intercultural understanding among members of the University of Minnesota-Morris campus community.
b. To coordinate international activities of the students of the University of Minnesota-Morris.
c. To design programs which enhance international awareness.
d. To promote and future develop international education including travel and
study abroad of all students so that UMM students can broaden their educational experience to cross-cultural situations.
e. To provide a representative channel through which special international interests, particularly educational and cultural issues of the international students, be brought to the attention of the University administration.
ARTICLE III: MEMBERSHIP AND VOTING
§ 1: All students of UMM who are committed to the aims of this association are
eligible to become members by registering with the secretary of the MO-MISA
§ 2: All UMM international students are member of MO-MISA unless they formally decline membership in the association.
§ 3: All members of the association begin the year with full voting privileges.
Members of the association may lose their voting privileges through absence form two consecutive meetings or by failure to participate in at least one organizational project. Members may regain their voting privileges after attendance at one meeting or participation in one organizational project.


ARTICLE IV: OFFICERS
§ 1: To be eligible for an officers position, one must be a voting member in food
standing in the organization. Sec. 2: The association shall at all times maintain the following officers:
A. President
B. Treasurer
C. Secretary
§ 3: The president shall preside over all meetings of the association. The president, in consultation with other officers shall prepare the agendas for the meetings and shall have the privilege of calling special meetings.
Sec. 4: The treasurer shall: (1) be responsible for all financial matters of the organization including paying bills, (2) keep a record of income and disbursements of the organization, and (3) preside over meetings of the association in the absence of the president.
§ 5: The secretary of the association shall: (1) take minutes at all meetings and be
responsible for their distribution to all members, (2) keep an updated record of the
standing of all members in the association, and (3) be responsible for distributing
i an announcement of the regular and special meetings to all members of the association.
ARTICLE V: ELECTIONS
§ 1: The president shall be elected at a special meeting in May, in the academic year preceding the academic year in which he or she will serve.
§ 2: The treasurer and the secretary shall be elected at a special meeting at the
beginning of the fall quarter of the academic year during which each will serve. The president will convene this special meeting for the election of the treasurer and the secretary.
§ 3: In case of resignation of an officer, which may be accomplished my a letter to the
president of the association, a replacement shall be elected at the next regular , f. meeting.
ARTICLE VI: MEETINGS AND PRECEDURES
§1: Regular meetings shall be held weekly unless the officers determine that there is insufficient business to convene a meeting.

§ 2: An announcement for all regular and special meetings shall be distributed two days in advance of the meeting.
§ 3: A quorum shall consist of six voting members of half of the voting members of the association, whichever is less. All decisions of the association except amendments to this constitution shall be based on a simple majority vote.
ARTICLE VII: AMENDMENTS
§ 1: Amendments may be proposed by any member of the association.
§ 2: Amendments shall not be voted on until the next meeting after the proposed amendment is first presented.
§ 3: The proposed amendment along with the original section of the article in question shall be distributed to the members of the association oat least two days before the proposed amendment is to be voted on.
