In summer 2011, Computing Services will begin rolling out Active Directory (AD) services to Windows computers on campus. Active Directory will allow us to better manage desktop/laptop systems on campus, including configurations, security settings and certain software updates.
An immediate benefit to Active Directory is a common login, using your Internet ID and password for your computer. Active Directory also provides network drives, where you can store your most important files, and easily share them with others in your group.
We can only support Windows desktops and laptops at this time. Support for Linux and Mac computers will be offered in later phases.
Active Directory is a large-scale project, and will be implemented in several phases.
