The TREC program includes evening and Friday sessions that run at the same times as our Community ESL Program classes and Jane Addams program. This allows adult ESL learners to bring their children with them to ESL classes and to involve them in meaningful literacy activities. TREC tutors involved in this program can serve on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights in Imholte Hall from 7–9 p.m.; on Wednesday nights at the Morris Area Elementary School from 6:00-9:00 p.m., and on Friday afternoons at Federated Church from 12:45–3 p.m. In this program, tutors read bilingual children's books to the children and do related learning activities. The age range for this program is ages 2–12. School-aged children assist with the reading and learning activities and also receive tutoring and homework help. c

“This experience was amazing. I truly loved spending time at the TREC program. I read many books to the children, assisted in reading comprehension and strategies, writing skills, and computerized reading games. Reading and writing are two of the utmost skills every student should have in order to be successful academically and in life. To be able take the time out of my schedule to give back to my hometown community is something that I enjoy and will continue to do for years to come.”
