Pending transfer of funds from the Department of Labor to the Renewable Energy Marketplace-Alliance for Talent Development, scholarships may be available not based on financial need to cover full tuition, textbooks, course fees, room and board for 25 students to attend this course.

Course prerequisite: Math 0901 Basic Algebra or equivalent, or placement beyond Math 0901 using ACT/placement exam, or instructor consent (MNWest equivalent = Math 0098 Higher Algebra I - Beginning Algebra as biomass course prerequisite).

Registration for ESci 1131

Admission to the University of Minnesota, Morris is not required to attend this course. Use one of the methods below to apply for this course (online, mail, fax, phone). Participant applications will be reviewed on a first-come basis.

  • PHONE: You may phone in your registration by calling Continuing Education at (320) 589-6450 between 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (CST) prior to the beginning of the course.

  • IN PERSON: If you are on campus, go to Continuing Education Office, 105 Blakely Hall, Monday-Friday between 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (CST) prior to the beginning of the quarter.

Tuition

Tuition and fees for each class are designated in the listing of the classes and comprise the total fee charged. Books are not included. Students are advised to pay tuition at the time of registration or when a fee statement is received from the University of Minnesota. The 2008-09 tuition rate is $316.54.15/credit. A $55 University fee is assessed per credit for 1-9 credits and $550 for 10 or more credits. Tuition and fees are set by the Board of Regents and are subject to change.

Tuition billing statements are sent to students after the semester begins. Note the billing schedule and payment plans for each semester at the Business Office web site.

You may pay by check or money order. Checks should be made payable to the University of Minnesota, Morris. Continuing Education assesses a $20 charge for checks returned by the bank due of insufficient funds.

Financial Aid

Financial aid for students at the University of Minnesota, Morris is based on financial need, enrollment and degree status. Current financial aid awards to students enrolled in another post-secondary institution may be used to offset the tuition costs. Books

Books and required readings are not included in the cost of tuition. More information about required texts and a lab manual for this course will be available in early May.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellation of Registration and Refund Policy:
Refunds for cancelled classes will be made in full for any of the following reasons:

  • when a class is cancelled by Continuing Education
  • when the hour, day or location of the class is changed by Continuing Education, after a student has registered for it.

When students cancel a class they are eligible for refunds according to the schedule. No refunds or readjustments of charges can be made except in accordance with this policy. Refunds cannot be made in cash; they must be paid by check. Normally it requires four weeks to process a refund. Checks will be mailed directly to the student.

Note: Students who cancel a University of Minnesota, Morris course must formally withdraw by contacting the Continuing Education Office; refunds will be based upon the date of formal withdrawal from a course.

Course Cancellation:
The University reserves the right to cancel a course in instances of insufficient enrollment. For courses, this decision is ordinarily made in the week before the first class meeting.
