Morris Chamber Community Picnic

The campus community is invited to a picnic sponsored by the Morris Area Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture. The event serves as an opportunity for local businesses to welcome new and returning students, as well as extend best wishes for the new academic year to faculty and staff.

2010 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients announced
The University of Minnesota, Morris Alumni Association (UMMAA) announces that Dennis Anderson ’73, award winning journalist and conservationist, and Susan Jackson ’74, professor and internationally known scholar, are 2010 UMMAA Distinguished Alumni Award recipients. They will be honored at the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award and Cougar Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday, October 9 during Homecoming. All alumni and friends are invited.
Football teams from 1975–78 to be inducted into Cougar Hall of Fame
In Cougar football’s 50-year history, only four teams succeeded in remaining undefeated in conference regular season play. The players and coaches for those teams—1975, 1976, 1977, and 1978—will be inducted into the Cougar Hall of Fame at the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award and Cougar Hall of Fame Banquet on Saturday, October 9 during Homecoming. Senior Legacy 2010 BikeShare Program underway
With bicycles and funds donated by students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends, the 2010 Senior Legacy Morris BikeShare program is underway. Refurbished and made gold with reflective tape, the bicycles are ready for student use on and around campus via a checkout system at the Student Center Info Desk.
Attention seniors—don’t miss the Senior Meetings!
Senior Meetings will be held in Oyate Hall in the Cougar Room on Tuesday, September 14, 2010, at 10 a.m., noon, and 2 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at 9:15 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 1 p.m. Please attend the day and time that works best for your schedule. Topics will include applying for your degree, commencement, employment opportunities, graduate school applications, and alumni information. Contact the Office of the Registrar with questions at 320-589-6031.
Troy Goodnough, sustainability coordinator, was interviewed by Robyn Liska, energy and climate analyst with Eastern Research Group, an environmental consulting firm contracted by the Environmental Protection Agency to help Second Nature, a nonprofit supporting higher education movement towards sustainable living. The topic was Morris’s Climate Action Plans submitted to the American College and University Presidents’ Climate Commitment.
