Chancellor Emeritus John Q. Imholte Fondly Remembered
Chancellor Emeritus John Q. (Jack) Imholte passed away on Sunday, April 20, with his family at his side. He enjoyed tremendously his work at UMM and was so proud of the campus. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 25, at 10 a.m. at Lumen Christi Catholic Church (2055 Bohland Ave, St Paul, MN 55116). Visitation will be held before the funeral service at 9 a.m. A full obituary will be published in the Saint Paul Pioneer Press, the Minneapolis Star Tribune, and the Morris Sun Tribune. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the John Q. Imholte Scholarship at UMM.
The guide highlights the campus's deep roots in land stewardship.
The new journal showcases student research and creative work.
The event raises awareness and support for local organizations.
Four keynote speakers will address topics like rural migration and the rural narrative.
Keeping Minnesota Ready through Severe Weather Awareness Week
As part of Severe Weather Awareness Week, Stevens County will be participating in tornado drills on Thursday, April 24, at 1:45 p.m. and again at 6:55 p.m. If severe weather occurs on Thursday, Stevens County will cancel and reschedule the drill. The campus will participate in the 1:45 p.m. drill. As part of the test the Tone Alert Radios will be activated, there will be a tone followed by a message regarding the test. At that time, the offices with the Tone Alert Radios will activate the calling tree notification system. They should call offices/areas identified on their calling list and inform them of the test, and if it were an actual emergency, they would need to take precautions. Classes will not be interrupted for this test. Tone Alert Radio locations are responsible for placing notification signs on building entrances at the time of the test and not before. At the time of the test, individuals are asked to be aware of their surroundings and to think about the nearest safe place to go to seek refuge at the time of a potential severe weather or tornado.
