Al Franken will host “The Al Franken Show” live and in person in Edson Auditorium. The public is invited to attend the Air America Radio broadcast, which will air live from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6. A book signing will follow the broadcast. This event is hosted by the Campus Activities Council Convocations Committee and the Student DFL. Doors to Edson Auditorium will open one-half hour prior to the broadcast. Richelle Maciej ‘06 had a revised version of her Speech Communication Senior Seminar project, “A Touch of the Wild Side: A Fantasy-Theme and Feminist Analysis of the Twins III,” directed by Mary Elizabeth Bezanson, published in the Communication and Theater Association of Minnesota Journal, 2006.
Seung-Ho Joo, political science, had a co-authored book, The United States
and the Korean Peninsula in the 21st Century, published by the Ashgate Press
(2006). The edited volume examines the political, security, and economic
aspects of U.S.-South Korean and U.S.-North Korean relations in the post-Cold
War era. Earlier he presented a paper, "Allies under Strain: U.S.-ROK
Relations under G.W. Bush," at the American Political Science Association
Annual Convention, Philadelphia, September 2006.
Dave Roberts, mathematics, has had a paper “Nash equilibria of Cauchy-random zero-sum and coordination matrix games,” published in the International Journal of Game Theory (Volume 34, pages 167-184). Roberts will speak about the paper at 4 p.m. Thursday, Oct 12, in Science 3610, during the Math Discipline Seminar.

Briggs Library Associates will hold its Annual Book Sale Thursday, Oct. 5, 11 a.m.-6 p.m., and Friday, Oct. 6, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in Oyate Hall. Donate used books, videos, DVDs and CDs to the Briggs Library Associates. Leave donations at the front desk of Briggs Library, the Library dock, or call 589-6226 to arrange for pickup. Donations accepted through October 3. Library Associates annual memberships will be available for purchase. Two books for the price of one on Friday! All proceeds from the sale will benefit the library.
The UMM Costume Sale, a fundraiser for students attending the American College Theatre Festival, will be held 3-6 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 3 and 10, and Thursday, Oct. 19, in HFA Costume Shop Room 25 (lower level HFA). Vintage Wear, costumes, fabric and new items being added each week. Most items only $1.

Students interested in entering elementary or secondary education program: You must pass the Pre Professional Skills Test (PPST) BEFORE entering either the elementary or secondary education program. The PPST will be offered at UMM on November 18. Contact Pat Nelson, Division of Education OR Jane Kill, Counseling for information on registering. This should be done in by October 6.
Attention secondary education students who are planning to graduate in 2008: There will be an informational/application meeting for all Secondary Education students planning to graduate in 2008 on Monday, Oct. 9 at 3:30 p.m. in Science 2190. The meeting will provide information on recommendations, interviews, and deadlines for applying for admission to the program.
