Register for Advanced Biomass Workshop by November 8
UMM and the West Central Research and Outreach Center will co-host an Advanced Biomass Workshop on November 15 in the Student Center. Pre-registration is requested by November 8. The workshop will include presentations on regional biomass to energy facilities, discussions on the current science, policy and economics of biomass use and a tour of the gasification system under construction at UMM. Multi-Ethnic Student Program alumni social gathering
You are cordially invited to attend a Multi-Ethnic Student Program (MSP) alumni social gathering sponsored by the UMM Alumni Association, on Thursday, Nov. 15, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., at W.A. Frost and Company, 374 Selby Ave., St. Paul. Visit with Bill Stewart, retired MSP director, and former and current MSP and UMM staff. Complimentary refreshments will be served and a cash bar will be available. Guests are welcomed. About 19 UMM young alumni gathered October 18 for a pre-performance reception for Comedy Night at the Brave New Workshop in Minneapolis. UMM Alumni Relations and Annual Giving Director Carla Riley and Program Associate Erin Schellin were on hand to welcome those who attended. Following a fun-filled hour of reminiscing and visiting, the group was entertained by the hilarious Saturday-Night-Live type performance of "You Cube: this company loves misery."
Seen on “FreeStyle” on HGTV (Home and Garden Television) October 22: A featured home that included a UMM throw on the couch. The two featured residents are UMM alumni JP Rondeau '97 (Carlson School of Management '99) and Andy Johnson '97 (Carlson School of Management '03). Both alumni are athletes - Andy, football and Jon baseball/basketball.
Ben Winchester, Center for Small Towns, and Judy Riley, University Relations, attended the Morris Area Chamber of Commerce Committee Chair Retreat on October 24. Winchester is the current chair of the Chamber Board of Directors. Riley is a past Board chair and serves as chair of the Chamber Communications and Marketing Committee.
ORL Open House Thursday
The Office of Residential Life invites the campus to visit their new office space from 1:30-3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, for an open house. New offices are located on the west end ground floor of Clayton A. Gay Hall.

Attention elementary education majors planning to graduate in 2010
There will be an informational/application meeting for all Elementary Education majors planning to graduate in 2010 on Thursday, Oct. 25, at 5 p.m. in Science 2190. If you were at the September 12 meeting, you do not need to attend this one.
Students interested in entering elementary or secondary education program
You must complete the PRAXIS I exams (PPST) BEFORE entering either the elementary or secondary education program. The PPST will be offered at UMM on November 17. Contact Pat Nelson, Division of Education OR Jane Kill, Counseling for information on registering. This should be done before fall break!
