    Thank you
We don’t know where to begin to thank each and everyone of you for the overwhelming response and attendance at the benefit for Beverly. It is way too hard to thank each person and business individually, therefore we will just write a BIG THANK YOU!! Thank you to all who donated items for the silent auction, bake sale and a special Thank You to Joy Smith for donating the beautiful quilt for the raffle. The winner of the quilt was Mary S. Erickson, Benson. A special thank you to everyone involved in the planning and everyone who took time out of their busy schedules to work before, during and after the benefit. We can’t thank you enough! Thank you also to the Minnewaska Lutheran Home for the use of the commons room. Thank you also to Thrivent Financial, Pope County Branch #31314 for the supplemental funds that were given!

The Tenderness of Bees, poems by Vicki Graham, English, has been published by Red Dragonfly Press. The seven poems of this collection meditate on the complex relationships between human and natural, balancing observations of the natural world with analysis of environmental crisis and reflections on the ways that language, an abstract medium, can be used to represent the sensuous world of human experience.

    UMM in the News:

Athena Kildegaard, English, was interviewed for a story about the poetry readings from an anthology, Letters from the World, on KMRS/KKOK (September 26).

Senior Doug Williams was interviewed for the September 26 Minnesota Daily story, “New bus to go from Morris to Twin Cities.”

A Talking Points column in the September 27 Morris Sun Tribune, “How does bailout affect rural Minnesota?” features comments by Arne Kildegaard, economics and management.

Troy Goodnough, campus sustainability coordinator, was interviewed September 29 by Paul Stagg, KWLM radio, Willmar, about the biomass facility.

UMM is mentioned among schools who are considering going to trayless dining in a September 29 Star Tribune story, “Students take a crash course in Trayless Dining 101.”

Minneapolis Star Tribune reporter Bill McAuliffe will visit the campus October 1 to develop a story about sustainability in higher education. UMM will be among the schools featured.
