CSN: On the court. On the field. On demand.
Cougar Sports Network (CSN) is online just in time for the tip-off of the 2008-09 UMM Cougar basketball season. CSN utilizes the latest in Web technology to bring UMM Cougar athletics to Cougar fans around the globe by way of a free, easy-to-use portal on the Internet. CSN will provide live video and audio Web cast along with real time game statistics to create an engaging game experience for all Cougar fans.
The UMM Alumni Association is "on the road" to El Paso, Texas!
Alumni and friends are invited to gather for an informal evening of dinner and conversation at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 2, at Dominic's in El Paso. Susan Schmidgall, development officer, and Erin Christensen, program associate, will host the event, sponsored by the UMM Alumni Association. Admissions Counselor Tara Schmidt will also dine with alumni and friends as the event is being held in collaboration with the admissions fair events in El Paso. The Cornell University (Ithaca, N.Y.) Winds concert on November 22 featured both the Cornell University Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony, led by directors Cynthia Johnston Turner and Matthew M. Marsit, as well as guest conductor Martin Seggelke, music.
The Concert Choir, under director Ken Hodgson, performed for the American Choral Directors Association of Minnesota fall convention held at St. Olaf College November 21-22. Nearly 400 Minnesota choral directors attended.
Arne Kildegaard, economics, was a panelist at the University of Minnesota West Central Partnership annual meeting in Montevideo.
Kildegaard was part of a panel speaking about the “green’’ economic opportunities the Partnership is working to promote in west central Minnesota. Read “Denmark gets 20 percent of its electricity from the wind, Minnesota only two percent” in the West Central Tribune, Willmar.
UMM in the News:
KMRS Morris radio interviewed a local senior citizen who is using the Morris Senior Community Center Web site created by first-year student Amanda Granaas.
Paula O’Loughlin, political science, was interviewed by Paul Stagg, KWLM (Willmar radio) regarding the Norm Coleman/Al Franken Senate recount. She was also interviewed for a story by Minnesota Capitol Bureau chief Don Davis about what the Coleman and Franken campaigns may see as options after the recount is done (or maybe even before) and by Minnesota News Network news director Stan Turner about the selection of President-elect Barack Obama’s economic team, why he has moved so quickly, challenges of selecting members, etc.
