    Tara Greiman is a Udall Scholar
    Junior Tara Greiman is a recipient of the 2009 Udall Scholarship, one of only two students awarded who attend a Minnesota college. Greiman is the second Morris campus student to receive the Udall and the first to focus on environmental studies.

    Mark Schuller ‘96 will return to campus
    Alumnus Dr. Mark Schuller ‘96 will show a film he produced, "Poto Mitan: Haitian Women, Pillars of the Global Economy," from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, April 15, in Imholte Hall 111. Schuller, an accomplished scholar—assistant professor of African American studies and anthropology at York College, the City University of New York— and activist will talk about his research on NGOs that serve women in Haiti. All are welcome.

    View photos taken during the inaugural Dr. Jooinn Lee Lecture given by Dr. John Barry March 25. Dr. Barry spoke on the topic, "Vulnerability, Resilience, Justice and the Inevitable Transition to Sustainability."

    Accomplishments:

    A piece about Jess Larson, studio art, titled "Debut/Taunt," 1997 is scheduled for publication in the May issue of Allure magazine in a time line for an article about the history of the corset. The story will mention Larson’s 1997 show in Chicago called A/Lure, that featured numerous girdles. The Chicago show was covered by the Chicago >Sun Times.

    Arne Kildegaard, economics/management, testified April 6 before the Minnesota House Energy Committee in support of HF 932, a piece of renewable energy legislation sponsored by Rep. David Bly (D-Northfield).

    [Mpls Star Tribune, 4/2/2009] “’How are you going to change the world?’ 2 U of M Morris scholars answer well,” was published about Morris campus Truman Scholars Kellcee Baker and Ashley Gaschk.

    [WCCO radio, 4/8/2009] Paula O'Loughlin, political science, was the guest on WCCO-AM (830) to talk about protesting—why people protest, its effectiveness, violent vs. nonviolent protests, any historical context—in light of the G8 protests last week. Click here for a link to the interview.

    [Pioneer 90.1 radio] Station manager Travis Ryder ‘03 shared that the broadcast date for the UMM Concert Choir performance on the Pioneer 90.1 'Fine Arts Focus' program will be Sunday, April 26, at 8 p.m. Streaming audio is available at www.pioneer90.org.

    [KMRS radio, 1230 AM] KMRS is developing stories about the Tinman Alumni Spaghetti Feed (interview with Erin Christensen, Alumni Relations and Annual Giving), Undergraduate Research Symposium (interview with Paula O’Loughlin) and Tara Greiman as the Udall Scholar from Morris.
