Google Technologies: an OIT Pecha Kucha Event

UMM Alumni Association Movie Night Photos

The UMMAA began a new tradition in November 2009 by hosting a complimentary movie night for students, faculty, and staff. The movie—selected by the sophomore class by popular vote—is part of the progressive and ongoing Alumni Association’s student engagement initiatives. Last Thursday, November 19, 2009 the campus community enjoyed the film, Back to the Future, at the historic Morris Theatre. Enjoy the photos.

Accomplishments

Associate Professor of Biology Pete Wyckoff and Rachel Bowers ’03 co-authored the article “Response of the prairie—forest border to climate change: impacts of increasing drought may be mitigated by increasing CO2,” recently published by the Journal of Ecology—an official journal of the British Ecological Society. The article suggests forests in west central Minnesota may be more resilient in the face of climate change than previous modeling studies would indicate.

Congratulations to first-year student Linda Keller, Paynesville, who finished 85th in a field of 280 runners at the NCAA Cross Country Championships Saturday, November 21, 2009, in Highland Hills, Ohio.
