Health Service will be administering free H1N1 flu shots/mist available Wednesday, Dec. 9 and 10, from 1–3 p.m., Clayton A. Gay Hall (east entrance). For more information, visit http://www.morris.umn.edu/currentstudents/Safety.html.
Last day of instruction for fall 2009
Friday, Dec. 11, 2009, marks the final day of instruction for the fall 2009 semester. Finals exams run Dec. 14-17, 2009. Good luck to all students on final exams!
Snow alert reminder
When the City of Morris Public Works Department declares a snow alert, parking is not allowed on city streets for a 24-hour period. Any vehicle in violation will be ticketed and towed, which will cost the vehicle owner $90. To find out whether a snow alert has been declared by the City of Morris, listening to KKOK/KMRS or visit the Morris Police Department Web site at http://www.ci.morris.mn.us/pd/. Some off-street parking spaces are available in the old elementary school parking lot at 600 Columbia Ave.
Elementary and secondary education program applicants must take Praxis I (Pre Professional Skills Test) before entering either the elementary or secondary education program. The test will be offered at UMM on January 9, March 13, and April 24. If you are an elementary education student planning to graduate in 2012 or are a secondary education student planning to graduate in 2011 you MUST take this test no later than the January 9 test date to meet application deadlines. Also, all education students must complete all three areas of the PPST before entering the program. Contact Pat Nelson in the Education Division Office or Jane Kill in the Counseling Office for information on registering.
Secondary education applicants planning to graduate in 2011 The secondary education application material is due to Pat Nelson in the Education Division Office no later than Friday, December 4, 2009. When you return in January, remember to sign up for your interview for the secondary education program. Interviews will be Monday, January 25 through Friday, January 29. Sign up sheets will be on the Education Division Office door (200), when you return in January.
Elementary Education applicants planning to graduate in 2012 The elementary education application material is to be submitted to Pat Nelson in the Education Division Office no later than Friday, January 29. Interviews will be February 8 through 12. Sign up sheets will be posted on the Education Division Office door (211), when you return in January.
Professor of Biology Chris Cole and Professor of Statistics Jon Anderson have co-authored research on the effects of increased levels of carbon dioxide on tree growth. The paper—co-authored by University of Wisconsin, Madison researchers—was published in journal Global Change Biology Friday, Dec. 4, 2009.
