Meiningens, the University of Minnesota, Morris’s student theatre organization, is proud to reintroduce, after a three-year hiatus, The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler. A 2010 Celebration gift of jazz to the community

Morris Area Schools Concert Hall
An evening of jazz, will serve as a 2010 Celebration gift from the University of Minnesota, Morris to the community. The Morris Area High School Jazz Band will open the free concert that also features UMM jazz ensembles and guest artist Laura Caviani, jazz pianist and composer. Jim Thoreen, songster, arts advocate, and Stevens County coordinator, will serve as the Master of Ceremony. The 2010 evening of jazz is funded through the Jim "Doc" Carlson Jazz Endowment Fund that was established with gifts contributed in honor of his retirement. Read more »

Tuesday, February 23, marks the official kick-off of the 2010 Celebration, which includes a rare winter opportunity to restock your pantry with the best foods from the prairie, enjoy a delicious local foods community dinner, AND tour two newly renovated University of Minnesota buildings—the West Central Research and Outreach Center Renewable Energy Addition and Office and the Morris campus’s Welcome Center.

Alumni Association Midwinter event at Como Park Conservatory
Alumni and friends will gather at the annual University of Minnesota, Morris Alumni Association annual Midwinter event to be held at the Como Park Conservatory, Bullard Rainforest Auditorium, 1225 Estabrook Drive, St. Paul, on Thursday, February 18, 2010, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Complimentary appetizers and cash bar. National Student Exchange Deadline: Friday, February 19, 2010
The National Student Exchange, a not-for-profit education consortium, provides affordable and practical opportunities for students enrolled at member campuses to study and live in a new location. NSE students have found their exchanges culturally enriching, academically rewarding, and one of the most significant experiences of their undergraduate education. Beinecke Scholarship deadlines: Friday, February 19, 2010
Each year approximately 100 colleges and universities are invited to nominate a student for a Beinecke Scholarship, and 20 new scholarships will be awarded in 2010. Each school invited to participate in the Beinecke Scholarship Program is permitted to make a single nomination each year. Students enrolled at a participating institution who are interested in applying for a Beinecke Scholarship should contact the Academic Center for Enrichment (ACE), room 5, Student Center, 320-589-7014, for information regarding the procedure to be followed in selecting the school's nominee.
UMM Bos Research Award and the Owen and Frances Tate Memorial Award Deadline Friday, February 19, 2010, 4:30 p.m.
The Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and Dean invites students to apply for the UMM Bos Research Fund and the Owen and Frances Tate Memorial Award. Application forms for both awards are available online at and must be submitted to Adele Raymond, Office of the Dean, 315 Behmler Hall.

San Francisco-based author and clinical professor of psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) School of Medicine Paul R. Linde M.D. will provide a reading and book signing on Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at noon in the McGinnis Room of the Rodney A. Briggs Library. Light refreshments will be served.
