Raymond J. Lammers Proscenium Theatre
The Theatre Discipline opens its 201112 season with Cole Porter's Anything Goes. The rollicking musical comedy will be performed in the Humanities Fine Arts Raymond J. Lammers Proscenium Theatre on November 1619, 2011. Performances are Wednesday through Saturday evenings at 7:30 p.m., with an additional 2 p.m. matinee on Saturday. Sophomore Movie Night

Morris Movie Theatre
The UMM Alumni Association is pleased to host a free movie night for the Morris campus and community. Finding Neverland, the 2004 popular hit starring Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet, will be shown on Thursday, November 17 at 9 p.m. at the Morris Movie Theatre. Free admission. The movie was selected by popular vote by the sophomore class at Morris as part of the ongoing class program initiative. The UMM Alumni Association proudly hosts four events per year for Morris students. All are invited to attend!

Kristine Johannsen, curator at the Thorvaldsen Museum in Copenhagen, will give a talk on Thursday, November 17, at 7 p.m. in HFA 6 titled "The Danish Phidias: Bertel Thorvaldsen (17701844)" that discusses the 18th and 19th century national interest of the Danish Kingdom in ancient Athens and Rome.

Research conducted on dumping wastewater into lakes
Morris Professor of Geology James Cotter and Ashley Woods '13, Plymouth, a geology and environmental science major, are looking at the effect a ditch dug near Willmar 50 years ago to funnel treated water into Lake Wakanga and back into the ecosystem has had on the lake over the last half century. Morris students attend AISES national gathering
Fifteen students from Morris' American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) chapter joined undergraduate students, high school students, and professors attending the National AISES Convention at the Minneapolis Convention Center November 1012. Several of them presented their own scientific work completed with UMM faculty mentors. Read more »
Celebration of Scholarly Accomplishments
Morris presented its first Celebration of Scholarly Accomplishments highlighting the research and artistic work of faculty and staff on Tuesday, November 8. Read more and enjoy the slideshow.
Students interested in elementary or secondary education program
Students who are interested in elementary or secondary education program must complete the Minnesota Teacher Licensure Examinations (MTLE) before entering either the elementary or secondary education program. The MTLE will be offered at Morris on several dates each month. Contact Pat Nelson, Division of Education, or Jane Kill, Counseling, for information on registering.
Men's Soccer Fights hard in NCAA Debut
The stay in the NCAA Tournament came to an end November 11 for the Minnesota Morris men's soccer team, as they fell 2-0 in a hard fought and close match to host and 12th ranked Loras College. Read more »
Accomplishments
A pair of Morris volleyball players was honored with individual postseason awards by the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC). Kaylie Clark was named Defensive Player of the Year, and Emily Auch shared Rookie of the Year honors. Read more »
Morris men's soccer is well represented with five first team honorees on the 2011 All-UMAC (Upper Midwest Athletic Conference) teams. Read more »

The Hudson Star Observer announced that freshman cross country runner Martin Zais has been named to the All-Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Team.
Alexandria's Echo Press reports that Chuck Wencl, holder of a bachelor's degree in music education with a concentration in instrumental music, is a new instructor at the Carlson Music Center.
Broadwayworld.com includes theatre major Catey Brannan in the cast of Winter Blunderland at the Florida Studio Theatre.
