IMANI

Organization Information Officer Information

Name: IMANI
E-mail: Joyn0012[at]morris.umn.edu
Meetings: Thursdays, 6pm, MSP Lounge
Description: The purpose of IMANI is to draw UMM's black male students, and other students of color closer together in all of their endeavors and to create avenues where they can take responsibiity to each other and their communities here on campus and beyond. Our objectives include but are not limited to, establishing, improving, and maintaining cultural relations with other men of color, assisting the university in its efforts to diversify the campus, to reach out to our urban communities by any means necesary. This can be done by simply establishing several field trips to Middle and high schools in the twin cities area or Chicago, providing opportunities for children in our urban schools to seek to become the best that they can be, serving as role models, or setting up numerous field trips for middle and high school students to UMM, giving them an opportunity to experience what being a college student really feels like, just to name a few.
