The Transition Year is a free website created by the American Psychiatric Foundation in partnership with the Jed Foundation. This website provides information to students and parents to assist them with the transition into college. Users enter the website as either a student or parent. There are four major transition categories. Although new college students will have already moved beyond Choosing a School, the categories Making the Transition and Attending College address many useful topics for managing the typical challenges and stresses of transitioning into college as well as information about specific mental illnesses.
Another category, Transitioning with a Diagnosed Disorder, is beneficial for students who were diagnosed with a mental illness prior to coming to college. The site also includes Q & A and College Wiki sections, as well as downloads and a personalized and confidential My Transition Year which provides access to interactive tools, checklists, forums and a personal library of the articles you have found to be helpful.
