Phys1063-
Physics of Weather, Fall 2007
![]()
All class documents will be made available to you
on this page.
As indicated in the online calendar on the course
page, some class periods are reserved for experimental work. These will take place
either outside or in the physics lab Sci4550. Details will be announced. Each
experiment will be accompanied by a short lab report for each student. Each lab
report (4 will be given) is worth 40 points. Respective documents will also
appear here.

Last
Friday we skimped over diffraction as an atmospheric optical phenomenon. Just
for that, the sky put up a show of iridescent clouds last Friday at sunset
time.
Here are some pictures of
those clouds.

Exp3-Data and graphs Excel

FYI:
This graph was
taken earlier this year, with a different preparation. Makes me wonder why the
humid-air results are so different. I’d call our results inconclusive.
Just
for fun: a weak warm front with a turbulent backedge passed through on
Wednesday afternoon, bringing in that nice, blue, dry, high-pressure air. It
also gave some really spectacular sights, all toward ENE-ESE, 5-6 pm:
