Three problem sets will be assigned throughout the semester, given 10 days to complete each one of them. The problem sets will be given on a Tuesday, and will be due on the Thursday of the following week. Students must work on these on their own. The process of completing a problem set includes two steps:

  1. Initiation and survey: You can think about the problems, and sketch out ways to the solution. You will meet me for a discussion of your thoughts on the problems, and receive some guidance. This period ends at 4 pm on the Tuesday before the due date. 25 % of your score on the problems set consist of this conversation.
  2. Solution: You write up your solution and turn it in. This will end on 4 pm on the due day.
