Storytime at the Library

Storytime at the Morris Public Library provides literacy development opportunities for preschool children. Held from 10:30 until 11:15 each Thursday morning, Storytime at the Library engages young children in listening, speaking, and action oriented literacy activities. Children are exposed to books at their developmental level from a variety of genres.

Following introductory activities, read-alouds, and interaction with others during the reading, children respond to the literature in a variety of ways through drawing, coloring, role-play, oral response, and innovation on the text.

TREC tutors meet with TREC staff to select texts and plan developmentally appropriate activities based on children's needs, interests, and text genre.

Fall 2008 Storytime at the Library begins September 11th.

Storytime at the Library is presented by Tutoring, Reading, and Enabling Children (TREC). Support for TREC Storytime at the Library comes from the University of Minnesota Morris, the Morris Public Library, Morris Area Schools, Morris Area Community Education, the Stevens County Collaborative, and the Early Childhood Initiative.

Contact Steve Sterud or Pam Solvie if you would like more information or are interested in being a part of the upcoming Storytime program.
