The purpose of Alpha and Omega is to learn and grow in our relationship with God and share with others about Christ's love in a multicultural setting.
A. Alpha & Omega is committed to the policy that all persons shall have equal access to its programs, facilities, and employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, veteran status, marital status, public assistance status, or sexual orientation, and adheres to all current University of Minnesota equal opportunity and affirmative action.
B. Any student at the University of Minnesota-Morris who endorses the purpose of this constitution is eligible to be a member of Alpha & Omega.
C. Membership begins when the individual participates in the activities and events of the organization.
D.Types of memberships:
1. Voting Members-consists of all participating ( 2 meetings a semester) UMM students.
2. Non-voting members
a. Associate -consists of UMM faculty, staff and those who attend less than two meetings.
b. Honorary -consists of other persons in the community interested in the activities of the organizations.
E. Membership Removal
1. Grounds:
A voting member can be removed if that person ceases to endorse the purpose of our organization as outlined in Article II.
2. Removal Process: Members in danger of removal will be notified, and the entire membership will be informed a week prior to the possible disciplinary action. The member in question will be given the option to speak at a meeting in front of the group. A three-fourths vote is required by voting members to remove the that individual from the organization. Any member can initiate the action by contacting an officer.
A. Officer eligibility is open to all voting members
B. These leadership officers will be collectively known as the Alpha and Omega Executive Board and each officer will serve for one year. Their titles and duties are listed below.
1. Leadership Coordinator
-To preside over fellowships/meetings
-To represent the organization at campus functions
-To carry out all duties associated with this officer
2. Worship Team Coordinator
-To lead the prayer group prior to each weekly fellowship or any other assembling events
-To preside over fellowships/ meetings during absence of Leadership Coordinator
-To carry out responsibilities associated with this position
3. Publicity/Outreach Coordinator
-To advertise Alpha & Omega functions to the UMM Campus and Morris Community
-To organize outreach activities about our organizationŐs mission
-To lead in organizing social-fun activities for our members
4. Secretary
-To preside over fellowships when necessary
-To keep minutes and attendance of the fellowships
-To carry out correspondence, approved by Leadership Coordinators
5. Treasurer
-To be in charge of fundraising for our group
-To maintain records of budget and monetary expenses
-To make available the status of the budget during fellowships
B. Election of Officers:
The officer positions are open to all voting members who express interest in having a leadership position. New officers will be considered through an interview meeting with the executive board. New positions will be granted by the executive board according to the candidateŐs skills, talents and interests that will help benefit the organizationŐs purpose. This selection process will be held the week after spring break. New terms begin at the end of the school year.
C. Officer Removal:
1. Grounds:
An officer can be removed if that person ceases to endorse the purpose of our organization as outlined in Article II.
2. Removal Process:
The removal of officers will follow the same procedures as the removal of members found in Article III, Section E, Number 2
A. The advisor to Alpha & Omega shall be an experienced non-student of the Morris Christian community.
B. The advisor shall provide expertise, guidance, consel and support to the organization.
C. The advsior shall attend meetings and events at his or her discretion or when needed.
D. The advisor shall be selected by the same process as explained in Article IV, Section B.
1. Group meetings will be held every Friday night of the school year.
