BATON ROUGE--The debut album by a local singer/songwriter is an inspired message of unity and love that reaches out to Christian and non-Christians alike.
Behold, I Will Do a New Thing is a ministry in song by Pamela Jenkins, a Baton Rouge resident who grew up in New Orleans, singing solos and prophetic songs in the church choir.
Jenkins, one of nine children, showed a gift for music at a very early age. "When we had company over," she recalls, "my father would ask me to sing for them. But that was okay. I wasn't embarassed. I loved to sing."
Her talent and love for music gained her increasing recognition, and led to success in vocal competitions and talent shows. In the 1970's she began writing her own music, earning her local fame as "a fiery woman of God with a passion for the lost and for the unity of the believers and non-believers alike."
Jenkins, who has five children and two grandchildren, was content for years to write and peform her songs at churches and other social gatherings. But that changed in June 1996 when she attended a women's church meeting. "It was at this meeting" she says, "that God gave me the mandate to go into the recording studio." The result was an album of Christian music titled Behold, I will Do a New Thing, based on the message of Isaiah 43:19.
Behold, I Will Do a New Thing was recorded and produced by Wade Mitchell at Anointed Recording Studio in Baton Rouge. The album's Executive Producer is Joe Jenkins, her husband of 16 years. It is on sale now....It can also be ordered by telephone from Behold Incorporated at (504) 751-7263.
