The 2003-2004 cougars began the year with a much better team than they had the previous year, but were not destined for great heights. Led by formidable coaches and captains, the cougars survived the season with a better tournament record than the previous year.

The cougars have lost 2 players to graduation, but are looking forward to the 2004-2005 season. The coaches, Liz Vang and Katie Hyndman are back for another exciting year. This year's co-captains are Anders Carlson and Asong Tambo. UMM Men's volleyball is looking up.

The UMM Men's Volleyball club is open to any male volleyball players who wish to play at a high level of competition. UMM is in the NIVC, (Northern Intercollegiate Volleyball Conference), along with many other universities of the Upper Midwest. Although the season itself begins during winter quarter (January), practice starts as early as September. Once the season begins, there are tournaments each weekend, capping off with the conference tournament at the end of March. Nationals follows in April. In 2004 the National Championships are going to be held in Charlotte, North Carolina.
